17th February

Please know that today, Tuesday 17th February, at 4pm, Winnie, the mother of Judith and Shraddhavan, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her apartment in Grace. Winnie was 94 years old, almost 95.

About

She came to stay permanently in Auroville in December 2007 but had spent many long visits over the winter time from 1974 onwards and had many friends in Auroville.

Winnie is resting in the Health Centre and she can be visited from 8am to 8pm for the next two days.

There will be a cremation on Friday the 20th at a time to be announced later.

Our love and sympathy go out to her daughters and (great)grandchildren.

This is to inform the community that Purani Perumal, who joined Auroville in 1977, passed away in the evening of March 5th, in the house of her daughter Jayagandhi in Kottakarai at the age of 75.

July 4th

This is to inform the community that John Lucksted of Auroville's Farm Group / FoodLink passed away in his house in Udumbu on July 4th. It is feared that his general condition, due to a long-standing severe lung problem, caused an internal bleeding leading to his demise. He was 64 years old.
Claude Charpie

July 25th

This is to inform the community that in the early morning of Saturday, July 25th 2009, Aurovilian Claude Charpie left his body after a long and brave struggle with cancer, at the age of 72. Claude's wife and sisters were with him, and our sympathy and strength goes out to them, as well as to his children in Europe.
