This is to inform the community that John Lucksted of Auroville's Farm Group / FoodLink passed away in his house in Udumbu on July 4th. It is feared that his general condition, due to a long-standing severe lung problem, caused an internal bleeding leading to his demise. He was 64 years old.
John, a British national, came to Auroville in 2001 and became Aurovilian in 2005. He has been involved in gardening and farming from the beginning, and was instrumental in the setting up of a well functioning link between farms and Auroville.
His remains were cremated at Adventure's cremation place on Monday, July 6th, at 5.30 pm. The late afternoon time slot was chosen so that his children in U.K. could be with us in their meditations. It was a serene and befitting moment, and all his friends were there.
We shall miss his quiet, unobtrusive and always friendly presence, and remember him with respect.
