Purani

March 5th

This is to inform the community that Purani Perumal, who joined Auroville in 1977, passed away in the evening of March 5th, in the house of her daughter Jayagandhi in Kottakarai at the age of 75.

About

Purani has been working as gardener in the Matrimandir Nursery and lived with her husband Perumal in Fertile Windmill.

We thank her for all her good services, and send our love and strength to Perumal, Jayagandhi and Natarajan, and other relatives.

Purani's body was cremated in the afternoon of Friday March 6th, at 4.00 pm in Adventure's Burial Ground.

Please know that today, Tuesday 17th February, at 4pm, Winnie, the mother of Judith and Shraddhavan, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her apartment in Grace. Winnie was 94 years old, almost 95.

July 4th

This is to inform the community that John Lucksted of Auroville's Farm Group / FoodLink passed away in his house in Udumbu on July 4th. It is feared that his general condition, due to a long-standing severe lung problem, caused an internal bleeding leading to his demise. He was 64 years old.

July 25th

This is to inform the community that in the early morning of Saturday, July 25th 2009, Aurovilian Claude Charpie left his body after a long and brave struggle with cancer, at the age of 72. Claude's wife and sisters were with him, and our sympathy and strength goes out to them, as well as to his children in Europe.
