Miracle

A Forest Community Holding a Special Magic

The first 5 acres of land of what was to become Miracle Community was purchased in 1998. Miracle became a forest community in 2005. Enea and Sathyam, the then youth of Auroville, were the first ones to settle on the land with the help of their mentors and do the initial work with minimum resources.

About Miracle - The Present

We began living in Miracle in the year 2000, without water, without solar power, without electricity.

In that simplicity, life revealed its deepest lessons. Every dawn, every breath, every moment became a meditation, a living yoga in communion with the land, the trees, and the whispering winds. We walked the path of patience and surrender, learning to trust the unseen, to honour the rhythm of nature, and to open our hearts to the subtle presence that flows through all things.

In those early days, Miracle was not just a place — it was a sacred practice, a reflection of Auroville’s eternal aspiration: to live in harmony, to awaken consciousness, and to let the spirit of life itself guide our every step.

Today, I, Kalou, am the steward of Miracle, as Ananda, Enea, and Satyam no longer live here. I live with my 2 children. In 2012, I created a Circus School for the children of Auroville, because this place — nestled in the forest — holds a special magic.

Soon, the large ring road will pass through the heart of Miracle.

Even so, I will remain here and continue my work for the community and serve the Divine.

The Past

Walter (from Shakti), George (from New Lands) and David (from Aurodam) were Enea and Sathyam’s mentors in their first years, and together they planted a mix of pioneering species with a particular focus on rare tree species of slow growth.

Now the covered area is comprised of 25 acres, 8 of which are in the planned industrial zone of Auroville. All the land that doesn’t fall in the industrial zone is treated as a forest sanctuary with minimal human intervention, while the 8 acres that fall in the industrial zone have been reforested before the “outer ring road” was enlarged and are naturally regenerating.
