Jan Lohman
Jan Lohman left his body, early on Tuesday November 3rd, in Holland. He was 81 years old. He had suffered a minor accident after which he was hospitalised. During the treatment Jan, very simply, and very clearly, indicated that he was ready to go. And he went, in peace.
Jan, who was a second cousin of Ruud Lohman, had been an active member of AVI Holland for years, as well as a member of Stichting Aurofonds, a small foundation that since the eighties published books on Sri Aurobindo and the Mother in the Netherlands. Jan himself did also quite some writing on Sri Aurobindo's works, and was particularly devoted to Savitri. During the 2009 AVI meeting, which took place in the Netherlands, Jan was warmly lauded and thanked for all his services to Auroville and AVI.
He regularly visited Auroville during the winter months and supported Matrimandir, Unity Pavilion, Aikiyam School and possibly other projects.
Jan was planning to come here again January 2010, had his ticket ready and looked forward to it. His travel plans now have changed. Farewell, Jan, you have been a real friend and brother to us.
