Gajendran

A Star in the Auroville Sports Field

Our Aurovilian brother Gaje (S. Gajendran) left his body on Sunday, March 2nd, at around 10 pm, in the ICU of Apollo Hospital, Chennai. Gaje succumbed to multi-organ failure which may have been caused by earlier neglect of a chronic health problem. He was 43 years old.

Gaje came to Auroville as a small boy, grew up here, and received training and worked in the field of electronics, lately with his brother Dhandapani in 'New Waves'. He will particularly be missed in the Auroville sports world, as certainly in the basket ball team he was one of the stars. Gaje lived in Slancio with his wife Sudha and their two children, Aurobharati and Sadhana.

On Monday, March 3rd 2008, Gaje's body was cremated in the Edyanchavadi cremation ground, surrounded by his family and friends. Our love and strength go out to Sudha, Aurobharati and Sadhana.

On Wednesday July 2nd, at 11.45 am, our good friend and brother Aurovilian Serge Brelin (French, of Auroville Press and Auroville Papers), very peacefully left his body in the Auroville Health Centre, surrounded by his family of friends. Serge had been confronting a cancer of the liver, which he bravely tackled during this last year with purely alternative means only. He would have been just 53 in August 2008.
