Valeriy
On Wednesday, November 17th, our Aurovilian brother Valeriy Kubarchuk, hailing from Ukraine and living in Prayatna, passed away at the AV Health Centre at 12 o'clock noontime due to cardio-respiratory failure after a struggle with cancer. He was 64 years old.
Valeriy and his wife Galyna joined Auroville in 1992, having followed their children who had joined earlier. Having initially worked at Matrimandir, he was active as sports teacher at Udavi in more recent years.
During the time of his passing his wife Galyna was present, as well as their daughter Veera and son Aleksey - the latter having arrived from Ukraine the same morning.
Valeriy’s body remained in the Auroville Health Centre’s Farewell Room, so that friends could pay him a last homage. It was cremated on the afternoon of Thursday November 18th at Adventure’s Farewell Grounds.
Our prayers go out for Valeriy, and love and sympathy to Galyna, Aleksey, Veera and the grandchildren.
