Kindergarten

Located at Centre Field, the Kindergarten (above) functions for children aged 3-7, dividing them into groups on the basis of age, affinity and ability. The teaching medium is English, but Tamil and French are also taught. Activities include those which develop manual skills, concentration and the beginnings of reading and writing. Teachers also try to cultivate in the children the habit of being quiet and relaxed.

Started in 1984, the Kindergarten today provides for nearly 50 children in four groups. About half are of Tamil origin, the remainder usually from some 10 other nationalities. The international coordinating team consists of half-a-dozen or more main teachers and assistant teachers plus 5 specialised teachers for music, Sanskrit song, swimming and body awareness.
