D. Perumal

Dedicated Worker at Fertile Windmill

On Monday, January 30th at around 11.30am long-term Aurovilian and brother D.Perumal peacefully passed away at the house of his daughter Jayagandhi at Kottakarai Farm due to heart failure, at the age of 87.

About

Perumal, originally from Pudunagar, had been with us for more than 40 years, most of which he worked as a staunch watchman at Fertile Windmill and doing a lot of planting there and at other places in Auroville till around 7 years ago when his health and age prevented him to continue.

Perumal's body was kept at the family's residence at Kottakarai, surrounded by daughter Jayagandhi, grandchildren Natrajan, Aurosugan, Meera and other relatives and friends. Our sympathy and support go out to them.

The cremation took place in the afternoon of Tuesday, January 31st at Adventure's Farewell Grounds.

We salute an old friend and co-worker with love and respect.

A Pioneering Aurovilian

Rosine Debode, a pioneer Aurovilian, passed into the Light on January 4, 2012 in Auroville. She returned home to Auroville only three months prior to complete her journey of 82 years. Rosine, who was originally from Belgium, lived for about five years in the mid seventies in Auroville. She built a permanent home in Certitude as part of an early group of houses designed by Piero and Gloria. It was after Rosine’s son visited Pondicherry and brought home a picture of the Mother that Rosine left everything to dedicate her life to Auroville and the vision of Sri Aurobindo and Mother.
Sundaram

Managed CIC, Bharat Nivas

Our good friend and brother, Aurovilian P. Sundaram of Bharat Nivas left his body on January 28th at 8.30pm in Puducherry's EastCoast Hospital where he had been admitted on Jan 17th due to deterioration of his illness. Sundaram had been fighting kidney failure since many years, while also suffering from diabetes. He was just 45 years young.
Saraswathi Devi

Dedicated Social Worker and Activist

Saraswathi Devi, Project Director of Sakti (opposite Auroville Botanical Garden), Edyanchavadi, and a long-time associate of Auroville, passed away on Sunday, 29th January night at the General Hospital in Puducherry after a short period of illness.
