Krishna Kumar

Dedicated to Music and Dance

On Friday 14th December, our long-term friend Krishna Kumar left his body at the age of 68 in his house in New Creation after a sudden short period of heavy asthma attacks and general unease. His wife Gita and daughter Harini were at his side.

About

The many Aurovilians who have known and studied dance and art with Krishna & Gita will remember and miss him dearly. Krishna who graduated at Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts, Chennai, comes from a highly artistic Indian family. In the seventies he teamed up with Gita, a German dancer, and since then the Indian-German couple regularly visited Auroville, widely teaching and sharing their knowledge, skills and passion for Indian dance and music.

Krishna’s remains were cremated in Auroville’s cremation grounds in the late afternoon of Monday 17th December during a light and loving gathering with family and close friends attending.

We salute a high-spirited, passionate and creative soul, thanking him for all the artistic joy he so contagiously radiated and shared. Our warmest condolences go out to Gita, his partner in dance and in life, and to his daughter Harini and family.
