This is to inform the community that our young friend and brother Jan Weber (German) peacefully passed away in the arms of Roswitha, his mother, in the morning of Saturday 3 November in a hospital in Karlsruhe where he had been treated for system failure originally provoked by a Hantavirus which he contracted during a cycle tour. He would have been 40 at the end of this month.

About

Jan, a qualified programmer, joined Auroville in '98 and lived here till 2006. During that time, he helped set up Auroville’s first browsing centres in Kuilyapalayam and at La Terrace, from where many will remember him. He then worked in Aurelec, preparing for a first Auroville website. From there he moved to Penta Services doing hard- as well as software work. Jan was an ardent cyclist, always helpful and those who knew him loved and appreciated him.

We send him our warmest memories on the way to the light.  Our heartfelt love and strength go out to Roswitha and family.
