Ashramite 

Peter Steiger, father of Aurovilian Ange and known to those of us who have lived in the Ashram, left his body in the morning of 28th January, 2017, at around 9 am during a struggle with a roller wave in the sea near Pondy’s light house. He was 78 years old.

Mother of Isha (Service Link)

Chandra, a long-term friend of Auroville and mother of Isha of ServiceLink, peacefully left her body on Wednesday 1st February evening in Ojai, California, only a few months after being diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. She thought to return again to Auroville for a last visit with friends and family living here, though finally there wasn't time. She was almost 80 years old.

In the evening of Friday, 3rd February, 2017, our good friend and brother, Aurovilian V Gnanavel of Matrimandir Nursery left his body due to a stroke caused by high blood pressure. The day before he was taken in serious condition to PIMS from where he was transported to the Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai. His wife, Geetha, and children, Madivanan and Kalaiyarasan, accompanied him. He was 53 years old.
