Auroville City
Auroville is an experimental township in India, founded in 1968 with the goal of being a universal town where people from all over the world could live together in peace and harmony. It is a unique place, and has been recognized by UNESCO as a project of importance for the future of humanity.
The city was founded by Mirra Alfassa, also known as "The Mother," and designed by architect Roger Anger. The Mother envisioned Auroville as a place where people could live free of prejudice and discrimination, and where they could work together to create a better future for humanity.
Auroville is located in southern India, about 8 km north of the city of Pondicherry. It is a small town, with a population of around 3,300 people from over 60 different countries. The residents of Auroville are called Aurovilians, and they come from all walks of life.
