Albert
Early Friday morning, 6 December, our good friend and brother, Aurovilian Albert Zwaan (Dutch national), liberated himself from his body that had gone through many hardships since a road accident last year July. He passed on quietly in his sleep in his SriMa house, with good friends by his side. He was 67 years old.
Albert joined Auroville in 1997 and, being a trained nurse, many of us remember him for the concerned and loving care he gave us during his work at the Auroville Health Centre, which he carried for a good many years, eventually as an executive. Particularly in the moments and ministrations after a death occurred, Albert was the one who took full care of the body and was a true stronghold for the ones left behind, guiding them through the logistics of the moment.
This time it’s Albert’s turn and we let him go with deep gratitude and love. During the week people have been paying a last farewell to him in the temporary Farewell House in Auroshilpam, and his remains were buried in AV’s Burial & Cremation grounds at Adventure on Thursday 12th afternoon.
Our sympathy and strength go out to his adopted son, Royal, who untiringly has been taking care of him, and to his friends and members of AVHC who sorely miss him.
Be well, Albert, and thank you..
