Contributed to Auroville since 1979

Once more a long-ago Aurovilian left his body in France: it’s our good friend and brother French Lambert Zirnheld who lived and worked in Auroville from 1979 onward when he arrived here with partner Vidya and their young baby Lila.

About

In the roughly ten years thereafter Lambert functioned as our youngsters’ enthusiastic and quite professional football coach and will surely be remembered by many of them. He also ran a flourishing farm in Douceur community and was the one who gave to the old Auroville bakery, then still in Kottakarai, the recipe for French bread and the much appreciated first French croissants.

On 12th July 2016, Lambert peacefully passed away at the age of 76 after a short struggle with cancer. Our warmth and sympathy go out to his daughter Lila who now lives in Auroville with her husband and their two children.

Lived a Simple, Devoted Life

On Saturday 2nd January, noontime, our friend and brother Aurovilian Georges Blanchet left his body in PIMS hospital at the age of 65 due to a general systems collapse originally caused by a possibly long festering infection in the lungs. His condition had become apparent just a few weeks prior; he had been conscious throughout the process, and appeared quietly ready and prepared.

In the afternoon of Tuesday 16th February our good friend and brother Mani (P. Munian) who lived in the Pump House near Bharat Nivas left his body at Trichy Hospital due to kidney failure. He was 58 years old.

Founder Member New Creation School (Aikiyam), Boarding

On 29th February, Roy (Alistair Wicks) of New Creation passed away due to kidney failure in his UK home in the presence of his daughter and son. He was 92 years old.
