Juul Trauwaen
Juul passed away at home in Arati 1 on 9th July, 2025, early in the morning.
Juul Trauwaen, a long-time resident of Auroville, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, just shy of his 94th birthday. He was born on June 12, 1931 in Belgium, and came to Auroville on December 5, 1987.
Upon settling in Auroville, Juul transitioned from his previous focus to education and community life. He found joy in sharing his knowledge by teaching computer skills to small children at Transition School. He was a quiet, thoughtful soul whose true passions were found in the realms of mind and spirit: he spent much of his time engaged in reading, writing, and deep meditation.
In his final years, when health challenges made it difficult to remain in his home in Shakti, Juul was cared for by Health Services at Ellen’s Home in Arati.
Juul will be remembered by the community for his gentle presence, his commitment to the children of Transition School, and his quiet pursuit of truth.
