Revered and Loved by Many

Annamaria was a long-time Italian Aurovilian from the early 1970s who entirely dedicated her life to Mother and Sri Aurobindo and, consequently, to Auroville.

About

As most of the residents in the early days, she worked at the Matrimandir construction while living at the Matrimandir Workers’ Camp. For a long time, she was also in charge of overseeing the Auroville accounts and participated in Auroville’s major working groups, such as the Working Committee and Auroville Council.

Her later years were spent quietly in her studio at Certitude. Her paintings testify to a deep inner connection and are cherished by those who resonate with her deeply felt awe and love for the Divine.

On October 26th she passed away in Auroville, revered and loved by many.

Tenzin Dolkar

Tragic Passing

Young Aurovilian Tenzin Dolkar, born in Nepal of Tibetan nationality and mother of two, suffered in the early morning of Friday April 22nd an accident on her motorbike due to a stray dog that came in her way on the Auroville road near UTS transport office. She underwent brain surgery the very same day in PIMS and although her condition initially appeared stable, she left her body on April 27th due to cardiac arrest. She was 31 years young.
Bhavana Dee

Founder of Village Action Group, 1983

Born 13th September, 1943 in a small town in upstate New York, Dee, as she was then known, was the eldest of six children. She died peacefully at 2:20 am on 11th May, 2011Her pioneering spirit first manifested in the mid-1960s, when Dee chose to leave the confines of the US culture and education system to learn at what she called “the university of the road”. Some years spent wandering-while-seeking in Europe and Asia eventually led her to Auroville in 1971, where she soon became known as Bhavana.
