KAVITA BANKAPURE was born and raised in Ratnagiri, a beautiful port city on the Arabian Sea coast in the southwestern part of Maharashtra state, India,
where she discovered her passion for painting. After completed her education in commercial art in 2007, she was working in the design industry
as a graphic designer for various companies such as acme communications, Kolhapur and Gadre Infotech, Ratnagiri as well as on her own.
She discontinued her 'job' when she discovered her passion in painting and then started her work purely concentrating on use of colours.
Even though she experiments with landscapes, portraits and other folk art forms such as Warli and Pahadi Art, her major interest lies with abstract painting.
She has also founded the organization ‘THEARTKATTA’ to promote a venue based art display. Under this initiative she is creating a network of artists to plan exhibitions at different venues.
Kavita and Kaustubh are visiting Auroville where they would like to share their work with Auroville Artists and art enthusiasts. Kautubh is a film maker and offering an applied theatre workshop at CRIPA during their stay.
