(before March 2014)

Life Education Centre is an outreach centre of Auroville, working for young women of the surrounding villages – started as a supplementary educational centre for school drop-outs in 1991, it has been adapting its methodology according the needs of the times and making it best suited to what is most important in the lives of these young rural women (unmarried teenage girls, young mothers), in order that they are able to get into contact with themselves, as a means for their empowerment. A vocational skill (tailoring) is offered to address building up their livelihood capacities, while classes are offered to strengthen their psycho-social skills. Counselling and discussions form a part of the methodology, while therapy through art, music/chanting, bodywork forms a regular daily part of the process.
