The ART FOR LAND action is a land fundraising action and is entirely non-commercial. All art works have been donated in a spirit of generous gifting for Auroville’s land. Similarly, donation bids made by buyers are land donations to support a greater and inspiring purpose, and a shared cause.

ART FOR LAND is dedicated action for raising funds to secure a unified land base for the City of Dawn that is essential for Auroville’s integrity and full manifestation.
All proceeds are land donations used for land purchase in Auroville’s Master Plan area.
Artists from Auroville, the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, from India and abroad have donated their art works – paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints – for the purpose of securing Auroville’s missing land. Among them – Priya Sundaravalli, Priti Ghosh, Pierre Legrand, & others – are widely known. Some works of an earlier time have been seen and touched by The Mother.

The works are distributed through a donation auction whereby donors submit their donation offers for specific works of art.
The 2017 collection of donated art works is currently on exhibit at Auroville’s Unity Pavilion and can also be viewed on the dedicated Art for Land website and its online gallery: http://artforland.auroville.org

The Art for Land auction will take place on Saturday 25 February from 3 – 6 PM at the Unity Pavilion
Preceding the auction, there will be almost daily events and activities throughout February at Unity Pavilion as part of the land fundraising action. The schedule is available on posters in Auroville and through News & Notes. A sale of rare offered photographs of The Mother and of Sri Aurobindo is also ongoing and the proceeds are land donations as well.

Land donations from Indian donors are eligible for tax exemptions under sections 80 G and 35(i)(iii). Land donations from Foreign donors of countries with tax-exempt possibilities must be sent via the AVI center of the country where the donor is a taxpayer.
